While delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) are the most publicly known cannabinoids, cannabis produces more than 100 different cannabinoids. Delta-9 THC is the main psychoactive agent in cannabis, and it is illegal at the federal level and in states that do not allow recreational or medical cannabis sales.
In recent years, players in the cannabis industry have turned to another psychoactive cannabinoid called delta-8 THC. The result has been an influx of delta-8 THC products even though the FDA has not evaluated or approved such products as safe for public consumption. The labeling on these products often contains misleading claims, the FDA says, and the products are often marketed for medical or therapeutic uses that aren’t approved by the appropriate authorities.
Delta-8 THC products have become incredibly popular in states without recreational cannabis markets because they allow users to experience psychoactive effects without buying black-market cannabis. Cannabidiol (CBD) has also enjoyed significant growth in recent years based on claims of its medical potential, achieving a net worth of $5 billion only a few years after the 2018 Farm Bill legalized the cultivation and sale of industrial hemp and its derivatives.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration is now looking to rein in this runaway market by amending federal drug laws to completely remove delta-8 THC products from the market and significantly restrict the country’s young CBD industry. Both CBD and delta-8 THC slipped through regulators’ hands because they are technically legal under the farm bill, which legalized industrial hemp and its derivatives.
Most of the CBD on the market is extracted from industrial hemp, which is essentially cannabis with minimal levels of delta-9 THC, while delta-8 THC is derived from CBD through chemical processes.
Several states have already moved to regulate or outright ban the sale of cannabinoids such as delta-8 because we have scant information on their potential benefits and risks. Currently, 14 states outlaw the sale of the substance. The DEA wants to go a step further and propose legislative changes that would make synthetically manufactured cannabinoids such as delta-8 THC controlled substances.
This type of legislation would immediately make every delta-8 product illegal while significantly “transforming the market for CBD products,” says Shane Pennington, an attorney at marijuana-focused law firm Vincente LLP.
If the DEA actually follows through on making these legislative changes, it would likely take years before the process is complete and the changes are announced. The agency will open a comment period to give stakeholders and business owners a chance to comment on the changes.
As the DEA moves to only allow natural cannabinoids to be commercialized in the states where marijuana is legal, more opportunities may become available for cannabis companies and related companies such as Advanced Container Technologies Inc. (OTC: ACTX) may do more brisk business as a result. This is because only legally permitted products adhering to the established regulations will be allowed on the market, thereby giving cannabis growers a better chance of succeeding.

A recent study has indicated that a nonhallucinogenic form of LSD may be able to treat mood disorders. LSD is one of several psychedelics that have recently gained attention from the scientific community as potential treatments for mental health conditions. Initial psychedelic studies have provided positive results, with researchers finding that hallucinogens such as psilocybin, LSD and MDM can potentially treat a wide variety of psychiatric disorders.
However, psychedelic therapies are marred by the fact that patients have to go through mind-bending psychedelic experiences during treatment, often for hours at a time. This hikes the cost of psychedelic therapy because it often requires the aid of at least two therapists and prevents these professionals from helping more people.
Furthermore, not everyone wants to experience the mind-bending effects of most psychedelics; many just want to take their medicine and go home. As such, scientists have been working to develop psychedelic therapies that don’t have hallucinogenic effects but still deliver mental health benefits.
A nonhallucinogenic analog called 2-Br-LSD could be the medication these patients and scientists have been seeking. Rather than inducing a psychedelic trip, this analog targets and activates the 5-HT2A receptor in the brain instead of the 5-HT2B receptor. This prevents the psychedelic from triggering a psychoactive response and makes it nigh impossible for patients to build up a tolerance to the drug with continued use.
2-Br-LSD also appears to accelerate neuroplasticity, which indicates that it could act as a relatively effective treatment for patients with depression. Animal studies have even found that 2-Br-LSD can help animals cope with stress better, suggesting that it could also be effective as a treatment for chronic stress.
If 2-Br-LSD proves to be safe and effective in human trials, it could open up the field of psychedelic treatments to a vast swathe of the market that isn’t comfortable with being intoxicated by regular psychedelics. Instead of going through several hours of guided psychedelic experiences, patients could simply take a nonhallucinogenic tablet and move on to talk therapy.
It would significantly reduce the cost of psychedelic therapies, making the treatments more accessible to the general public, and also reduce the duration of guided sessions while allowing clinicians to attend to more patients. According to a 2023 study, the LSD analog had a major impact on serotonin receptors and activated the 5-HT2A receptor without triggering hallucinations.
It is less likely to result in tolerance in patients compared to traditional LSD and can ease depression symptoms by boosting neuroplasticity. Although it has exhibited significant potential as a mood disorder treatment, researchers say that more research has to be done to verify the LSD analog’s effects and understand the underlying mechanisms that cause these effects.
While LSD analogs are undergoing scientific scrutiny, plenty of research is also being undertaken on classic psychedelics such as psilocybin by enterprises such as atai Life Sciences N.V. (NASDAQ: ATAI). The future of mental-health care may therefore be dominated by treatments derived from these substances.

Residents of Mississauga no longer need to drive outside of the city to visit a licensed cannabis store.
The city’s first legal cannabis store opened Friday, May 26, to an eager crowd of locals and other supporters.
Pop’s Cannabis, with another 25 locations across Ontario, recently became the first licensed cannabis store to open in the city, following council’s vote in April to finally allow them within the city. The store is located in the Clarkson Crossing mall.
The city of Mississauga had previously opted out of allowing cannabis stores, citing concern over a lack of control around zoning.
With over 800,000 residents, Mississauga is the second-largest city in the Greater Toronto Area and the third-largest in Ontario. It was one of more than 60 municipalities in Ontario that initially opted out of allowing cannabis stores within city limits.
Rebecca Kinch, who leads training and development for Pop’s Cannabis as the chain’s Eastern store manager, says they also plan to open their second Mississauga location on Friday, June 2 at a location near Applewood and Bloor.
Kinch says the community has been very supportive of the first store. Not just customers, but even other tenants in the mall.
“It’s amazing, everyone is excited to see us here. This is a very supportive community.”
Kinch says the application process was no different than other two dozen locations they have opened, but notes they did try to move as quickly as possible to secure the distinction of being the first in the city.
Omar Khan, Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer at High Tide, which currently has three applications for its Canna Cabana chain working its way through the process in Mississauga, expects to open their first locations soon, as well.
“We are exploring up to half a dozen potential Canna Cabana locations in Mississauga,” says Khan. “To date we have submitted three applications into the AGCO and look forward to opening soon.”
As of press time, there were 13 applications listed by the AGCO in Mississauga. New application notices are posted regularly. There are more than 1,700 cannabis stores listed as being approved to open by the AGCO.

Wisdom is an effigy. It’s a towering figure in the mind of man. It’s a Goliath to all self-efficient Davids, a leviathan to all outside-the-box thinkers, a towering wall to all adventurers. It both reinforces and locks down comfort zones. And so, as with all effigies, wisdom must burn.
The Goliath must be toppled. The leviathan must be slain. The tower must fall. Otherwise, we’re merely left with the known, and the unknown will forever lie beyond us. Otherwise, we’re left with idealism, golden cows, white towers, and entrenched power.
The highest level of wisdom is the wisdom to overcome wisdom or forever be confined by it.
What we call knowledge is an attempt to impose something comprehensible onto something incomprehensible. Likewise, wisdom, which is made up of knowledge, experience, and intuition regarding something incomprehensible, is an attempt to impose comprehensibility.
The art of dismantling wisdom is the ability to allow incomprehensibility to be the thing. It’s the courage to acknowledge both the absurdity of the universe and the absurdity of trying to make sense of it. It’s realizing that the human condition is fallible, imperfect, and prone to mistakes.
You either integrate absurdity or absurdity disintegrates you. You either rise above knowledge or knowledge enslaves you. You either transcend wisdom or wisdom closes your mind. The wisdom in dismantling wisdom is the only way to ensure the progressive evolution of wisdom.
The ashes leftover from burning down the wisdom of the past is a hotbed for the perpetual wisdom of the Phoenix. Burn baby, burn!
Question everything, including your questions:

The question mark is the undaunted scythe of wisdom. It gives us a cutting edge. Nothing should be off limits. Nothing should be sacrosanct. Where the perpetual wisdom of the Phoenix is concerned the only “God” is a razor-sharp question mark slicing through all things. To include wisdom itself. To include even the throat of the Phoenix. To include even the throat of God.
Answers are God. Comprehensibility is God. Safety, security, and comfort are God. All are false Gods. We continue to make sacrifices to them at the detriment of true wisdom.
God is a psychosocial symbol for our finite perception of an infinite reality. It’s the symbolic personification of our utter inability to grasp the infinite. It’s the archetype of pigeonholing the incomprehensible into the comprehensible. We must reinvent God precisely because we will never understand the true nature of infinity.
The only thing more important than reinventing God is destroying God. We destroy God in order not to get hung up on outdated evolution, antiquated wisdom, and parochial notions of permanence. Indeed, we destroy God in order not to fool ourselves.
But we also rebirth God in order to humble ourselves. So as not to get too far ahead of ourselves. We rebirth God in order to rebirth meaning itself. For there will always be the unknown. There will always be the Infinite which dwarfs our finitude. There will always be something bigger than us to grow into. There will always be a Great Mystery, and we will always be trying to figure it out.
As Bruce Lee said, “All fixed set patterns are incapable of adaptability or pliability. The truth is outside of all fixed patterns.”
Questioning everything, including our questioning, is the only way not to become fixed in any set pattern. We must keep imagination ahead of reason. We must recondition cultural conditioning. We must revaluate all values. We must question God.
Employ your mind as a mirror:

Be like a still pond. Receive but do not keep. The fish are but slow-moving emotions inside you. The clouds are but slow-motion perceptions outside you. All are mere illusions passing you by. The self is masks all the way down perceiving delusions all the way up. The masks reinforce the illusion of a truth. Likewise, the delusions reinforce the illusion of a truth. None of which are true.
The only truth is ungraspable. The only way to grasp this truth is to let go of it. The only way to feel it is to sacrifice yourself to it. The only way to employ it is to always keep the Truth Quest ahead of the “truth.”
You do this through ruthless insouciance and fierce audacity. When it comes to confronting “truth” incorporate the spirit of the boxer. Bob and weave. Dip and jab. Zig and zag. “Dream of a language whose words, like fists, would fracture jaws (Emil Cioran).” Then fearlessly fracture the jaw of “truth.” Give the devil a black eye. Leave God with a broken nose. Leave the ring a champion of the Truth Quest rather than a victim of a so-called “truth.”
Have no hangups. You are a delusional creature caught up in a ruthlessly absurd universe. You either learn how to transcend it or it will smother you. It’s already swallowed you whole, so the only way to become whole is to subsume it. Incorporate it corporeally—mind, body, and soul. Become the absurd. Be the paradox. Let go of the need to hold on. Burn the effigy of the self. Let the Phoenix of nonattachment rise out of the ashes.
Adapt and self-overcome:

Use philosophy as a chisel for the hardened beliefs within you. Use it to humble yourself. Use it to destroy illusion and murder delusion. Use it to dismantle wisdom. Use it to unsettle your settled mind, to shock your chakras, and to reevaluate all your values. Use it to practice self-overcoming as a life-death-rebirth process.
Deconstruct and then reconstruct meaning. Self-interrogate. Self-destruct. Self-actualize. Question your infinite inner masks as well as your infinite outer delusions. Go up and down the “chain of command” and break rank. Plant minefields in your mind field. Blow it all to hell. Then use muscle memory as a reminder of what you learned. Be a catalyzing agent par excellence. Become both a lighthouse in the dark as well as a beacon of darkness in the blinding light. As Joseph Campbell said, “The influence of a vital person vitalizes.” So be vital!
A good sense of humor will be your saving grace. Use humor to adapt and overcome. Use it to scale the heights and mock the abyss. Use it to poke glaring holes in the blinding light and plant dauntless seeds in the darkest dark. Use it to count coup on wisdom. Use it to reinforce humility over hubris and curiosity over certainty. Employ the greater wisdom of the will to humor to overpower the lesser wisdom of the will to power lest the latter destroy wisdom itself.
This is true wisdom: the ability to let go of wisdom in order to fully grasp it.
